Jazz has served as the Practitioner Advisor for the ASCE Student Chapter at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for the past school year and has made outstanding contributions to our organization.
Jazz has maintained a strong connection with our chapter after serving as President of our ASCE Student Chapter last year. Jazz comes to nearly every general meeting and serves as a liaison between our student chapter and our local Younger Member Forum. In addition to attending meetings, Jazz takes time out of his work week to help out at our community service events. He assisted at one of our Building Big Service days in Morro Bay on a Thursday afternoon where we taught elementary-aged children about Civil Engineering. Also, Jazz is very active in helping the current President not miss important dates and deadlines as well as help where needed.
This past January, Jazz accompanied a few of our student members to the annual ASCE Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders (WSCL) in Phoenix, AZ. At the conference, he was able to brainstorm with and create more open communication with some of our current and future student chapter leaders.
In conclusion, Jazz is an excellent role model to our student members as he works hard to advance his professional career while still serving as an active Practitioner Advisor for our chapter. I highly recommend Jazz Gilbert for an Outstanding Practitioner Advisor award as he deserves to be recognized for his hard work and great contributions to our thriving student chapter.
