Nominations Processed through the Branch
Each year the Los Angeles Section presents awards at the Section Annual Meeting. These awards are selected from nominations made by the Branches, YMF, LMF Technical Groups, Committees, and individual members. All nominations shall be coordinated with and processed through the Branch in which the person is a member of or where the project is located.
The award categories are as follows:
Outstanding Government Civil Engineering Project
Outstanding Private Sector Civil Engineering Project
Outstanding Sustainability Project
Outstanding Architectural Engineering Project
Outstanding Civil Engineer in Government
Outstanding Civil Engineer in Private Sector
Outstanding Younger Civil Engineer
Outstanding Faculty Advisor
Outstanding Practitioner Advisor
Outstanding Civil Engineer in Legislative Activities
Outstanding Civil Engineer in Community Service
Lifetime Achievement in Civil Engineering
Excellence in Journalism

Note that the award criteria requires that the nominations be from Branch award recepients from the previous Branch award period, except for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Also, the Life Member Forum may make a nomination for the Lifetime Achievement Award directly to the Los Angeles Section
Nominated projects shall be located within the boundaries of the Los Angles Section and nominees shall be Section members, except for the Journalism award. There are no specific requirements for the format of the award submission. Nominations should include all pertinent information to provide the best possible description of the nominee. The award nominations submitted will be evaluated by the Section’s Awards Committee
Branch Presidents, or their designated representative, shall submit on or before June 30, 2009, the following information:
• a cover letter indicating the intended award categories and a brief overview of each nomination;
• all the pertinent information relative to the nominated project or person (including a picture);
• one copy in electronic format (CD/DVD) or hard copy in easily reproducible documents
