| Details | Topic: Orange County Public Works Storm Season Outlook and Preparations Speakers: Kevin Onuma, Deputy Director, Orange County Public Works Kevin Onuma is the Deputy Director of the Operations & Maintenance Service Area for Orange County Public Works. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California and is a Registered Professional Civil Engineer in California. He began his career with the County of Orange over 28 years ago. In addition to his current role as the Deputy Director of Operations & Maintenance, Kevin’s previous positions have included the Deputy Director of Infrastructure Programs, Flood Control Division Manager, and Interim Chief Engineer. His current responsibilities include leading the Operations & Maintenance Service Area which consists of 4 divisions which manage the inspection, scheduling, and maintenance of 326 miles of County roadways in unincorporated areas and the Orange County Flood Control District’s 380 miles of regional flood control channels, 4 dams, 8 pump stations, and other infrastructure such as retarding basins. Operations & Maintenance is also responsible for handling and directing storm and other emergency responses and operating OC Public Works’ Department Operations Center during storm events. Synopsis: Orange County Public Works performs continuous maintenance work throughout the year to insure that the County’s roadways and the Orange County Flood Control District’s facilities are in good working order. This presentation will include the storm season outlook, preparations for the current storm season, and planning related to potential debris flows from the burn scar for the recent Holy Fire.
