DWP La Kretz Innovation Campus

Award

Description

“The Project is located at 525 S. Hewitt Street occupies a three acre block in the Arts District of downtown Los Angeles. Renovation of the existing 60,000 square foot, one-story, unreinforced masonry warehouse building constructed in 1923, includes a major seismic upgrade, extensive work to the structural components, plus mechanical, electrical, plumbing system, and tenant improvements. A new surface parking lot with a photovoltaic solar canopy will also be constructed.

The Project exemplifies a public/private partnership among a wide range of stakeholders in Los Angeles, and it will house a synergistic mix of clean-tech tenants. The goal of the Project is to build an ecosystem that supports innovation, deployment, and commercialization of clean technologies. Each site component has a purpose in and of itself, and also provides synergy with the other components. The building program and tenants for the Project include the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), the LACI managed Prototype and Manufacturing Laboratory, the LACI managed Training Center, the LADWP Energy Efficiency and Emerging Technology Laboratory, and the LADWP Customer Engagement Laboratory. “
