Urban or Land Development Project
Description
The Maxine Lewis Grove Project is a housing development with 39 residential affordable units, a special needs project targeting at risk or unhoused individuals. The site had an existing historical building that was preserved and converted into a functional community building for the residents. The site itself presented many interesting challenges including its proximity to the creek, the conversion of the historical house into an ADA accessible building, and stormwater mitigation within a walled in basin. This led to a final condition of a deck with deep foundations to stay outside of creek’s “Bob Hill Line”, retaining walls wrapping around the existing building that maintained the existing foundation, and very tight utility design to maintain water offsite flow.
