Cal Poly Partners Plaza - Spanos Stadium

Award

Community Improvement Project

Description

Cal Poly Partners Plaza, the new 14,200-square-foot, tiered pavilion in the north end zone of Spanos Stadium, offers fans an immersive college athletics experience that is uniquely Cal Poly. With three separate and distinct terraces, the plaza is home to an amazing field view that creates a continuous connection to the action on the field. Pair that with two uniquely different culinary and beverage venues, and one stand-alone drink concession, and the plaza brings the tailgate to the field from kickoff to final whistle. It’s an end zone experience like no other. The plaza and its distinct food, seating and picnic area is available during the academic year on weekdays, providing another amazing space for Cal Poly community members to gather and eat on the west side of campus. Wallace Group worked in collaboration with Cal Poly, Maino Construction, and TenOver Studio to transform the north endzone of Spanos Stadium from an unusable, restricted space, to a multi-level viewing plaza with a new concession area, turf play area, and landscaped pathways and picnic areas.  Accessible pathways provide ADA access to all of levels of the plaza and connect to the adjacent east and west bleachers and the O’Neill Green grass area.  The project also included new ADA parking spaces on California Blvd adjacent to the project site.
