Description

Tom Broz’s career has been focused on taking projects from “cradle-to-grave” through the use of multiple project delivery methods including design/bid/build, design/build, design/CM, PM/CM as agent, and PM/CM multiple prime. Many of these projects that Tom has worked on have been recognized by various professional engineering and construction organizations as being noteworthy projects and have received awards for such achievement.  Tom’s projects have ranged the gamut of size and type and have included multi-billion dollar nuclear power generating facilities to local public agency projects with construction costs less than a million dollars.  Tom has worked on power generation and distribution facilities, water storage and transmission facilities, industrial process facilities, alternate energy facilities, high tech research facilities supporting manned space flight, commercial and public buildings, and infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and underground wet and dry utilities.  Throughout his career, despite advancing through the management ranks, Tom has never left his roots and continues to this day to be a hands-on project manager.

Tom has resided in Orange County for 50 years and from here has had a one-of-a-kind career as a civil engineer having been able to have worked on a broad spectrum of project types.  His projects have included numerous projects in Southern California including Orange County (OCFA, OCWD, County of Orange, SCE, USACOE, Cities of Fountain Valley, Orange, Placentia, San Clemente, Seal Beach, and Tustin) as well as projects located across the country and around the world.  In reviewing Tom’s projects you will see that numerous clients utilized Tom for multiple different projects. While working on these projects he has also given back to his profession by his career long service to ASCE both locally to the ASCE OC Branch and the ASCE LA Section as well as to ASCE National and other technical organizations including the Western Council of Construction Consumers (local branch of the Construction Users Round Table (CURT) and the Construction Management Association of America.  Even though retired, Tom continues to actively support the ASCE OC Branch as Chairman of the History and Heritage Committee, Member of the SEI local chapter Board, Mentor in the ASCE OC Branch Mentoring Program, and member of the ASCE OC Branch social committee supporting their two major events, the History and Heritage and Awards dinners.  Tom also is supporting ASCE Region 9 as its liaison to the State of California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
